2nd East - Heart on fire 1992 (AOR) Germany

A brilliant AOR release with some West Coast influences at times. It can best be classified as Lite/Soft AOR. Perfectly produced, it's some of the best that my ears have had the pleasure of listening to for a very very long time. There is a huge, solid resemblence to VISION FIELDS here with those massive keys and flowing melodies. Even the harmonies will cause the hair to stand up on your arms and neck......it's a great one for AOR lovers!!.(delbert)
Private Domain - St 1987 (AOR/Rock/Indie) US
9:24
Not the subrosa masterpiece I was hoping for, the album (which was re-released a year later on another label, bearing a vastly different track list) is your proverbial mixed bag. PD's approximation of white boy rasta on "Turn Out Right," and their apparent signature piece "Absolutely Perfection" are at the very least passable, and in some cases outshine the album's less satisfactory moments (like the pitiful power-ballad misstep "Broken Hearts"). Despite some '80s shtick and period keyboard trickery, Private Domain were at their most effective and assertive when they skewed to a riffier album rock motif, exemplified on "So Comfortable," not to mention the pseudo power pop of "Burn the Torch," which was a hell of a lot more convincing than Cheap Trick's sappy radio hit at the time.(wilfuly)

Streets - Crimes In Mind 1985 (AOR) US
13:41
Mike Slammer re-recorded the song If Love Should Go on the 1st Streets CD and released it as a bonus track on Steelhouse Lane - Slaves Of The New World. The streets are very similar to Survivor on their first CD, and the Steelhouse Lane CD sounds like a cross between Hardline and House Of Lords. I guess they would because Mike worked with both bands. I got both releases of Internet Streets and I'm happy with them for now. They have a great sound. It is worth checking out!.(bone)
Line - Solitary Nite 1987 (AOR) Netherlands
2:28
“Solitary Nite” was the first song Robby Valentine wrote that was released as a single. It was perfrormed by the band Line, in which Robby was the keyboard player and backing vocalist. Lead singer was Jan Klapwijk who later joined coverband Jack in the Box. Via an ad in the newspaper he joined the symphonic rockband Line from Rotterdam. Line gained some attention by releasing a single “Solitary Nite/Seasons”, written by Robby. The single was played several times on the radio but never had any chart succes. Due to lack of succes, Robby decided to quite Line and to startup a band himself. The result was First Avenue, who became one of the most promising bombastic rock bands from the Netherlands.https://melodic-hardrock.com/line-solitary-nite-1987/
Amethyst - The Maze Of Destiny 1991 (Reissue 2010)(Melodic Metal) US
9:32
Amethyst formed in Kansas City in 1986 and recorded all of these songs between 1990 & 1992. Heavily influenced by bands like Queensryche and Crimson Glory , Amethyst play Melodic "Thinking-Mans" Metal. Clear soaring vocals and first-class musicianship dominate this exceptional release. First time ever on cd and Highly Recommended to all fans of pure 80s Metal.(Retro)
Korea - St 1992 + Bonus (AOR) Canada

The vocal introduction of multiple tracks in 'Beyond Time' is great, and the song itself receives an approval mark, with some strong guitar lines. I love the second song 'The Letter'. Glorious AOR, look at the ingenious keyboard work, percussive bass lines and touching guitar solos. 'Eye to Eye' is another outstanding song, with regimented verses and a rich chorus. 'Now' has all the AOR clichés, but I think it's great.(rychiega)
Peroux - Wheels Keep Turnin´ (EP) 1988 (Melodic Rock/AOR) UK
9:08
PEROUX were a British band trying to etch out a career in the wimpwire / melodic hard rock scene during the late 80’s. Promoted and recommended by Shy (Tony Mills band), along with the likes of After Hours, Briar, Midnight Blue, Moritz, etc, were among a bunch of bands hovering in the 2nd division without getting the big break. From London, the band no doubt saw the success of other British exports all signed to major labels at the time, as Virginia Wolf, FM or Shy itself. A crime, because “Wheels Keep Turnin´” is a great miniLP.
Talking about FM, Peroux’s style / sound is a mixture of them with some american AOR rock acts. Starting out with “Summertime Memories”, this one is very American sounding, not unlike FM on their ‘Indiscreet’ album. Very nice fluffy keyboards and a feel-good vibe. Nick Simmons has warm vocals, very british. “Midnight Princess” is an extremely melodic semi-midtempo where the guitars are noticeably down in the mix to give more room to the harmonies. This is a great tune with all the ’80s atmosphere. Just love the title track “Wheels Keep Turnin´”. This is the kind of keyboard-driven AOR I die for. Killer pre-chorus (awesome) and dreamy main chorus on this one. The guitar/keys middle-section instrumentation is simply wonderful. Last track “Susannah” is definitely americanized, in sound and style, reminding you great US bands of the mid eighties.
“Wheels Keep Turnin´” is a beautiful 4-track mini-LP from a band who deserved better luck. Keyboards are really predominant on this recording, not strange because it is produced by Procul Harum keyboarder Mathew Fisher, and one of the founder members Matt Haslett used to play ivory on another UK group; Snowblind. https://melodic-hardrock.com/peroux-wheels-keep-turnin-1988/
Baby Blue - American Boys 1988 (Melodic Hard Rock) US

From Buffalo of New York coming Baby Blue, a band that had all the best specifications for something bigger that never came. The band formed in 1988 by guitarist Johnny Angel after he left from the glam/hard rock band Rock Candy. The band manage to recorded and release a 6 tracks demo tape where the quality of the songs and the good production won’t let you dawn and make it one of the lost gem of the 80s that definetely worth your attention.
The band has the same music style as Rock Candy but way better and more melodiouc. These guys do show flashes of greatness and made me a believer. Johnny Angel is simply great and they have some thoughtful lyrics that pull you in to the better songs’ sheer catchiness. The same year Johnny Angel in Buffalo Music Awards voted as one of the best hard rock guitarist among Stephen Shaw from Rock Candy. Amazing compositions, many backing vocals, catchy choruses, sparkling keys and memorable hooks compose this effort released only in cassette. https://melodic-hardrock.com/baby-blue-american-boys-1988/
