Sceptre - Rise To Power 1986 [Melodic Rock CCM] US 320@

11:33

Sceptre hailed from Newberg, Oregon acted in the mid 80s. Not to be confused with Sceptre from Los Angeles, California. Their debut album came out in 1986 from Free Rain label in timy limited copies in tape and vinyl edition. If you are a fan of  the 1980’s style Christian rock with power chord drivin’ guitar and great keyboards, then this rare private press gem is right up your alley. The song “Helter Skelter” on here is their own song, not to be confused with the beatles song. A super hard to find album nowdays.(PAGE)

Scary Hairy - Intent To Deliver 1993 (Hard Rock) US

11:23

If you like your metal progressive with alot of melody then this is the band for you. Scary Hairy sounds like a cross between Dream Theater and Black Sabbath with some elements of Queesryche and Savatage in the mix. All the power chords you could ever want, with soaring vocals, and huge drums. Every track on the disc is great, but my personal favorite is the explosive 'One That Got Away'. Other stand out songs are 'Show, Place, or Win' and 'Lonely Children'. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.(malebolgia)

Don Peterson - Person To Person 1983 (Melodic Rock/Pomp Rock) USA

4:58

Who knows this ??? Well, I didn't, when I found it at a record convention last year. I knew it from name, but never saw an actually copy of this obscure slice of vinyl. The seller told me this is great pomp rock ala Hybrid Ice....
After hearing it, I'm not completely unanimous with this statement though.
There are some really good pomp rock songs on this lp, but on the other hand theres also weaker melodic hard rock tracks, bit comparable with Lynn Allen.
There are 2 singers, a decent amount of guitars and keys but like I said before, the songwriting is not always Convincing. Anyway, another nice lp to add at your never ending wants lists...happy hunting!. (willy)

Misty Rox - Nursery Crimes 1990 (Hair Metal) US

9:46

This is some of the best metal music out there--once you get "Nursery Crymes" or "Prelude to War" in your head, they won't go away; and "Broken Hearts, Broken Roads" is a truly haunting ballad. I never saw them in person, but I have two home movies of Misty Rox, and their live performances--no matter the singer--are amazing. John's drum playing is top-notch, and the guitar work--Ron is truly one of the best, and a talented writer as well. If you can, grab this CD--it is well worth it.(laidy)

Sarvela - Powerful Pleasure 1993 (Hard Rock) US

8:26

Sarvela hailed from Massachusetts acted in the early 90s, being another prime example of a band that never got the chance to get something better in the music industry. The band lead by vocalist Brian Sarvela who later work with Joe Stumps Reign Of Terror and Zanister. The audio is a perfect sample of the band’s quality. The demo is hard to be found nowdays. In 2005 Sarvela re-formed played in around area releasing the album “Rage” and split up again. Brian Sarvela passed away in 2014.(https://melodic-hardrock.com/sarvela-powerful-pleasure-1993/)

Nice surprise with this album, this is not AOR, nice Melodic Rock/HR of early 80s (1984). Great songs like 'Never Again' 'Running With the Night' and 'I'm Just a Loser', the 'ballads' 'Heavy on My Love' and 'Away from You' also good ones. Recommended.(j.carlos)

Kyle Henderson - More Than The Look Of Love 1985 [CCM/AOR] US

5:49

Kyle Henderson is the ex Bassist/Vocalist for the bands,”Whiteface” and “The Producers”. After The Producers got dropped from CBS Records in 1983, Kyle became a Born-Again Christian and released this Christian album on ex Kansas and  fellow Christian, Kerry Livgren’s label. “More Than The Look Of Love” album was favorite among Christian listeners and Christian radio. Kyle Henderson’s,”More Than The Look Of Love” happens to be one of the most sought after Christian albums filled with very strong lyrics about Jesus Christ !!! In fact,The Producers recorded Kyle’s song, “Renaissance” from “More Than The Look Of Love” for their 4th album, “Coelacanth”, but re-wrote the lyrics so it would’nt be so Christian for their album.(www.mhr.com)

Cutthroat - It Must Suck To Be You 1995 (Heavy Metal) US

2:53

Following the demise of Milwaukee's MEGATON BLONDE , drummer Mike Stix (also ex-REALM) would go on to form a heavier band with vocalist Mark Woydelko , Guitarist Jimmy Furlong , and Bassist Scott Meyer called CUTTHROAT.  Recorded in the early 90s , this is the first time ever on cd for their debut release.  This is straight-up 80s-style U.S. Power Metal drawing influences from bands like Crimson Glory, Mercyful Fate , Black Sabbath , Riot , Malice and Flotsam & Jetsam.  Powerful vocals , scorching riffs , and a pounding rhythm section showcased a band with a lot of talent and promise.  Retrospect is very proud to have them on the roster.  A nice find for any collector of obscure traditional American 80s sinister Metal!!

Marilynn - Back Where You Belong 2012 (Hard Rock) Germany

4:37

Formed in 1987, Marylinn was one of the single bands playing melodic hard rock on the other side of the Berlin Wall. They performed music in the best traditions of Europe, Treat and Fate, even managed to record the pre-production demo for the debut album, but broke up due to problems within the band. In 1999 Marylinn returned to the stage, performing on the territory of their native country, and now, 25 years later, it’s time to release their debut album, “Back Where You Belong”, full melodic retro sound, hit tunes, powerful riffs and keyboards!
