John Philip - Wait For The Night 1987 (AOR) US
9:03
Producer and musician John Philip is actually one John Philip Kurzweg, from Tallahassee Florida, who first became known for his work with successful post-grunge bands Creed and Puddle of Mudd in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but also playing keyboards for Rick Springfield. In the late 1980s Kurzweg signed as a solo artist with Atlantic Records, and released a record in February 1987 under the name John Philip (his middle name). The album, Wait for the Night (which Ken Scott produced/recorded the first half of) received mostly positive reviews and some airplay for a few weeks but then virtually disappeared from the landscape. After this experience Kurzweg started producing other artists, at first mostly in the Florida-Georgia area. Imagine a combination of Henry Lee Summer and Michael Morales and you will be in the mood of this record.(MH)

The Front - St 1984 (CCM/AOR) US
14:38
The Fron is a bamda of Tommy Funderburk, Bob Wilson (SEAWIN), Dann Huff (Peter Cetera, Doro Pech Michael Bolton, Giant ... the list is long), joined talents, yet any AOR fan should own this. If you like the west coast, you will love it. If you need many distorted guitars to please him, you probably won't like this. It reminds me of Loggins from the mid 80's or mid 80's Chicago a bit with a touch of Toto and with the lyrics of "Jesus"

This is a primitive Aor, in which we find riffs with force, something that is not usual today in this style, the only difference with Hard Rock is that the keyboard shares prominence with the guitar. If you are outside the Aor I will tell you that the Van Halen also had their Aor stage but you remember to review the Jump issue.
Glam, Aor, Hard Rock, Sleazze and a lot of melody that's what we're going to find. The solos of guitar attracts attention with strength and feeling but above all the figure of the singer attracts attention. An American school Aor that has nothing to do with that made by Toto, Foreigner, Elo, Journey ... that of Gibraltar has much more strength and is more oriented towards Rock, is a primitive and still unpolished Aor, probably with the Over the years the band would become more melodic and less aggressive.(metalbrothers.es)

Eumir Deodato - Knights Of Fantasy 1979 (AOR/Prog Rock) Brazil/US
11:35
On Knights Of Fantasy (1979), Eumir Deodato once again concocted his own ineffable brew of Fusion and funky Disco. Four-to-the-floor beats, funky percussion and heavy synths make for an album that seemingly has an endless groove going.
The B-side opens with 3-part piece called 'Bachmania', which includes an adaptation of Bach's 'Jesu, Jay Of Man's Desiring' - in a very funky way of course.
Fun fact: the list of used synths include a slew of analog classic machines like a Fender Rhodes Suitcase 88 Piano, Mini-Moog, ARP Pro-Soloist, ARP Omni, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, Maxi-Korg, Hohner Clavinet and a Polymoog. Essential Jazz Funk from the Disco era.
Artie Dison - Forgiving Eyes 1989 (AOR/CCM) US
11:28
Here is the 1989 Asaph Records record of Artie Dison “Forgiving Eyes”. Although falling under the Christian AOR category, this album will appeal to all fans of AOR/Melodic Rock as well. Killer release from start to finish! From the hook-laden “Lonely Heart”, or the uptempo melodic rocker “Conquest Of Love, to the absolutely beautiful “Mysteries Of The Sky”, you will not be disappointed by this amazing aor release. Fans of Beckett, Shelter and the likes will love this album.(melodic-hardrock.com)
Measure - Close To The Madding Crowd 1991 (Melodic Rock/AOR/Hgh-tech) Denmark
10:44
Measure play exactly the kind of catchy high-tech flavoured AOR that we know and love from bands like Drama, Fingerprints or 2AM. I couldn’t point out any song here as all 10 songs are consistently strong and feature a well balanced mix of keyboards and soaring guitars with some fantastic solos on offer as well. Vocalist Jan Klausen has a clear accent free voice that reminds of Beau Heart. Make no mistake, this is high quality Hi-Tech AOR all over without any weak spots! One of the rarest records nowdays.(https://melodic-hardrock.com/measure-close-to-the-madding-crowd-1991/)

Power - Demos 1987 (Melodic Rock/AOR) Sweden
5:24
POWER evolved from a previous act titled Highbrow. Althought they established before 1980 their first work released, a demo tape actually came out in 1983. Their only official work are two single titled “Lyin’ and Teasin’ / Heal My Heart” and “Danger / Love Ain’t Meant Forever” came out in 1986 and 1987 respectively. POWER playing melodic hard rock at its best and providing the Swedish Rock scene with many noted musicians.
Vocalist Björn Jansson (Snakes In Paradise, Talisman,Erika), bassist Marcel “Marre” Jacob (Talisman,Last Autum’s Dream,John Norum), drummer Mats “Dalton” Dahlberg (Treat, Dalton, Speedy Gonzales), keyboardist Patrick “Green” Appelgren (Talisman,Treat) just to name few of the musicians. The band between 1987-1988 recorded several songs never released official while in 1985 they appeared in the compilation Swedish Metal Aid Give A Helpin’ Hand among other Swedish bands.
The band in the late 80s released a Compilation of demos and unreleased material on cd-r. In any case their singles and their compilation worth the search and being part of your collection.
Von Rosen - Someone Like You +1 [single] (1987) AOR
7:11
Von Rosen was a Swedish duo who understood the talents of Magnus Rosen and Peter Sandberg (Madison, Alien, Midnight Sun). They recorded and released in the eighties a couple of singles in the best Scandi - AOR tradition.
"Someone Like You / Time" was the last one (the other single can be found HERE), with stellar contributions from Mats Olausson (Glory, Yngwie) and Goran Edman.
Soon; Truly great AOR rock melodies from the best Scandinavian pedigree.
There is a tear of vinyl that circulates among collectors, but with many clicks and jumps everywhere.
This was made by me, cleaned and restored for your listening pleasure.
I love these things. Thank U!(CAMELBLUE)
