Kings Of Modesty - Hell or Highwater 2009 (Melodic Metal/Hard Rock) Finland
9:16The Kings of Modesty prove that epic rock still exists with Hell or Highwater. Along the lines of such metal luminaries as Queensryche, Dream Theater, and even Rush at their heaviest, this record combines new wave and progressive metal to achieve an amazing result. All that aside this record still rocks! Don't expect empty chord progressions and synthesizer fills here. Hell or Highwater is a metal record with teeth, but it is still melodic and musical.

The Graveyard Train Amazon 1993 (Hard Rock) USA
9:15They kind of remind me of Love/Hate with a hint of Black Crowes. There's some fun material in here. (Tim)
TIM's spot on with his review again. This band have some really good ideas but just don't seem to finish it off. Definitely worth checking out, kind of like Four Horseman and The London Quireboys, they have that bluesy feel about them. (david)
Pretty standard bluesy hard rock. A couple of the songs had an almost Bon Jovi-ish feel to them. If you're a fan of Cinderella's HEARTBREAK STATION, you might wanna check this out. (gar)

Burning Tree - St. 1990 (Hard Rock) USA
9:14Burning Tree's self-titled debut album is a perfect example of a CD that was a creative triumph but a commercial disaster. Perhaps the band got lost in the corporate shuffle at Epic, or perhaps the problem was that Burning Tree's heavy rock was too different from the other heavy rock that was popular at the time. Burning Tree didn't play glossy pop-metal à la Poison, Warrant, Bon Jovi, or Winger, and it wasn't a thrash or speed metal band like Metallica, Slayer, or Megadeth. Favoring a very psychedelic approach, the power trio drew on such late-'60s influences as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Blue Cheer, and the Yardbirds. Tunes like "Fly On," "Same Old Story," and "Mistreated Lover" pack an exhilarating high-decibel punch, but the group never loses its strong sense of melody. Aggression and melody prove to be a powerful combination for Burning Tree, a little-known band that should have been famous.

Lipstixx 'N' Bulletz - Bang Your Head 2009 (Melodic Metal/Sleazy/Glam) Sweden
12:18..note these newcomers stand toe to toe with the leading modern sleaze bands namely "Crashdiet" and "Dirty Penny"; there is no bad song on this debut nor anything that could be accused as irrelevant material or boring. But if I had to pick one song as representative of their abilities and atmosphere that would be "My Heart belongs to you" as it sounds thunderous and honest.
Lipstixx'n'Bulletz definitely take the Sleaze metal sound a step further with their debut album `Bang your Head". I have to suggest that any fan of Sleze metal, "Dirty Penny" or "Crashdiet" should get the "Lipstixx..." debut, there's an experience awaiting here.

Vanity Kills - 2 Die 4 1991 (AOR) USA
8:22This bands sounds exactly like mix of Little America and Glass Tiger. Vocal is very simillar to Spandau Ballet singer, Tony Hadley. Best track is Hollywood Passion with outstanding chorus. Other very good tracks are Give Me Your Heart, Never The Same and So Afraid. Decent album with some really good moments. (vandervelde)

Easy Action - St 1983/2010 (Melodic Rock/Glam) Sweden
11:02Classic Swedish metal act whose debut was their 1983 self-titled album. The band was really interesting at the time, heavily influenced by glam artists like Hanoi Rocks, New York Dolls and others. The debut as well as this 1986 release has quite some interesting names on it; Kee Marcello on guitars that eventually ended up in Europe after John Norum left, and Tommy Nilsson who became quite a famous AOR/pop vocalist throughout Europe.(HHarmonies)

Iain Ashley Hersey - Nomad 2008 (Melodic Hard Rock) USA
10:57"Nomad" features a allstar lineup including Doogie White (Yngwie Malmsteen), Jochen Mayer (CASANOVA, DEMON DRIVE, DOMAIN), Frank Kraus (DEMON DRIVE) Paul Logue (Edens Curse), Holger Seeger (Midnite Club) Born in New Hampshire and growing up in New England, Iain cut his teeth on the heavier British Blues Rock Bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Bad Company and guitar players like Beck, Blackmore and Hendrix. Later seeking to develop his musical vocabulary he studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he expanded his musical realm into that of jazz improvisation, eventually to return to the fold of Rock and Blues. Iain comments, "There was something about the pull of ones roots and missing the power that comes with simplicity. Relocating to Los Angeles, he spent a year as a student at Musician*s Institute in Hollywood. "More of an excuse to get settled into LA"..."I skipped all the main classes as I already knew all that stuff from Berklee and basically just hung out and played with Joe Diorio, Frank Gamballe and Scott Henderson." At the end of the year, he was invited on as an instructor which he did for the next six years

Edde Maxx - Hot Paint 1993 (AOR) Canada
5:10Not a great deal known about our friend Edde, all that I know is he originates from Canada (Montreal I guess, judging from the all the French Canadian names all over the liner notes) and has a reputation as a bit of a 90's Aldo Nova. Not sure if I agree with the comparsion, as the collection of music on offer here is eclectic (to you and me that means a 'mixed bag'). Musically yes, this is a real mixed bag. Just as well there is a high degree of melody though I remain unconvinced by the varied styles displayed throughout, as well as the vocals which don't exactly hit the mark or resonate with me entirely...(glorydaze)

My Little Funhouse - Stand Under 1992 (Hard Rock) Ireland
6:08The singer has a strange voice (a sleazy version of Billy Corgan?) but the music isn't grunge at all. There are a few Guns N'Roses influences (in fact GN'R helped them and was thanked in the liner notes). Listen to the beautiful acoustic-driven ballad "Raintown". It's like GN'R "Sweet Child O'Mine" meets Ugly Kid Joe "Mr. Recordman". Btw, "Raintown" was one of my favorites during my last year on the junior high. Ah, those were the days.(ardian)
Don't like this one much at all. Very sleazy, reminds of Dangerous toys second album. I'm not saying it's bad. I'm sure it would be great if you like this kind of music. I'll take great hooks and the big melodies over this.(Kindred)
