Colin Hay is a Scottish musician, best known as an Australian, because since his teens he lived and trained in Australia.
His baptismal name is Colin James Hay, and was born on June 29, 1953 in Saltcoats, a village in Scotland. His family moved to Australia when he was 14. At that time, Colin became interested in playing guitar and singing. In 1978, along with Ron Strykert (guitar), Greg Ham (saxophone, flute, keyboard, bagpipes), John Rees (bass) and Jerry Speiser (drums) formed a group called Men at Work, which became one of the best and a surf-rock icon.
Colin Hay was in charge of the band as vocalist, guitarist and main songwriter in the mid-1980, the band parted caundo. Then he continued his solo career.
